To Night Owl from Dogfish
by Holly Goldberg Sloan; Meg Wolitzer
Language: English
New York : Dial Books for Young Readers/Dutton Children's Books, imprints of Penguin Random House LLC, [2019].
295 pages ; 22 cm.
ISBN: 9780525553236 ; 0525553231
Summary: Avery Bloom, who's bookish, intense, and afraid of many things, particularly deep water, lives in New York City. Bett Devlin, who's fearless, outgoing, and loves all animals as well as the ocean, lives in California. What they have in common is that they are both twelve years old, and are both being raised by single, gay dads. When their dads fall in love, Bett and Avery are sent, against their will, to the same sleepaway camp. Their dads hope that they will find common ground and become friends--and possibly, one day, even sisters. But things soon go off the rails for the girls (and for their dads too), and they find themselves on a summer adventure that neither of them could have predicted. Now that they can't imagine life without each other, will the two girls (who sometimes call themselves Night Owl and Dogfish) figure out a way to be a family?

Being Fishkill
by Lehrer Ruth
Language: English
Massachusetts : Candlewick Press,U.S., 2018.
210 x 140mm.
ISBN: 9780763684426 ; 0763684422
Summary: Fishkill Carmel fends for herself, with her fists if need be -- until a thwarted lunch theft introduces her to strange, sunny Duck-Duck and a chance for a new start. Born in the backseat of a moving car, Carmel Fishkill was unceremoniously pushed into a world that refuses to offer her security, stability, love. At age thirteen, she begins to fight back. Carmel Fishkill becomes Fishkill Carmel, who deflects her tormenters with a strong left hook and conceals her secrets from teachers and social workers. But Fishkill's fierce defenses falter when she meets eccentric optimist Duck-Duck Farina, and soon they, along with Duck-Duck's mother, Molly, form a tentative family, even as Fishkill struggles to understand her place in it. This fragile new beginning is threatened by the reappearance of Fishkill's unstable mother -- and by unfathomable tragedy. Poet Ruth Lehrer's young adult debut is a stunning, revelatory look at what defines and sustains family. And, just as it does for Fishkill, meeting Duck-Duck Farina and her mother will leave readers forever changed.

Replica
Replica
by Lauren Oliver
Language: English
New York, NY Harper, 2017. ©2016.
236, 6 pages, 284, 10 pages ; 21 cm.
Summary: Lyra's story begins in the Haven Institute, a building tucked away on a private island off the coast of Florida that from a distance looks serene. But up close the locked doors, military guards and bio-hazard suits tell a different story. Haven is a clandestine research facility where thousands of replicas, or human models, are born, raised and observed. When a surprise attack is launched, two of its young experimental subjects, Lyra, or 24, and the boy known only as 72, manage to escape. Gemma has been in and out of hospitals for as long as she can remember. A lonely teen, her life is circumscribed by home, school and her best friend, April. But after she is nearly abducted by a stranger claiming to know her, Gemma starts to investigate her family's past and discovers her father's mysterious connection to the secretive Haven research facility. Hungry for answers, she travels to Florida, only to stumble upon two replicas and a completely new set of questions. While the stories of Lyra and Gemma mirror each other, each contains revelations critically important to the other story. A flip book, each story can be read separately or in alternating chapters.

But when the one teacher who really understood her -- Mrs. Wexler, the school librarian, a woman who let her eat her lunch in the library office rather than hide in a bathroom stall, a woman who shared her passion for novels and knew just the ones she'd love -- is killed in a freak car accident, Sparrow's world unravels and she's found on the roof of her school in an apparent suicide attempt. With the help of an insightful therapist, Sparrow finally reveals the truth of her inner life. And it's here that she discovers an outlet in Rock & Roll music.

Summary: Il faut dire aussi qu'on m'a appelée Prunelle.

by Whitney Gardner
Language: English
New York : Alfred A Knopf, 2017. ©2017
297 pages : illustrations ; 22 cm.
ISBN: 0399551417 ; 9780399551413
Summary: When Julia finds a slur about her best friend scrawled across the back of the Kingston School for the Deaf, she covers it up with a beautiful (albeit illegal) graffiti mural. Her supposed best friend snitches, the principal expels her, and her two mothers set Julia up with a one-way ticket to a "mainstream" school in the suburbs, where she's treated like an outcast as the only deaf student. The last thing she has left is her art, and not even Banksy himself could convince her to give that up. Out in the 'burbs, Julia paints anywhere she can, eager to claim some turf of her own. But Julia soon learns that she might not be the only vandal in town. Someone is adding to her tags, making them better, showing off—and showing Julia up in the process. She expected her art might get painted over by cops. But she never imagined getting dragged into a full-blown graffiti war.

by Francine Allard
Language: French
Hull, Québec : Vents d'Ouest, 1999.
167 p. ; 19 cm.
ISBN: 2921603993 ; 9782921603997
Summary: Une mère monoparentale hérite d'un manoir à Rockstown.
